Welcome to Thinking Objectively!

My goal in my writing is to look at issues and events while trying to be as objective as I can. One thing I have learned over my 60 years on Earth is that being objective is not easy! We are influenced in many ways, both consciously and subconsciously. We also tend to settle into one way of thinking then quit asking ourselves tough questions about our beliefs.

Although I am not a professional philosopher I do read philosophical works written for the intelligent layman. My background is in chemical engineering and economics. During my college years I discovered the works of Ayn Rand who deeply influenced me for decades. Within the last 10 years I've also read books by John Kekes, David Norton, Jonathan Haidt and Ken Wilber, all of whom have influenced my thinking.

Over the years I have written articles for various publications that catered mostly to fans of Ayn Rand. I have selected my favorite essays for posting on this web site. I hope you find them interesting and thought provoking. I also have several blogs related to this; their links are provided here too.
